Job Description

We are seeking a Manager, Database Administrator to join the database team in Belgrade. We are looking for an experienced person who will be managing a team of database administrators, providing leadership, direction, and oversight to achieve operational and functional targets within the Database Management Systems (DBMS) domain. The role also requires hands-on execution, including active involvement in complex database tasks, performance tuning, and solution implementation alongside the team.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in database administration, demonstrating a deep understanding of database management systems
  • 4+ years of experience administering distributed Oracle DBMS in production environments
  • 2+ years of formal or informal experience in managing people and technical teams, sharing knowledge, and providing mentorship
     

It would be great if you also had . . .

  • Experience working with AWS RDS (Oracle), S3, EC2, IAM, and other AWS services for cloud-based database administration
  • Sound knowledge about RMAN backup/recovery experience on very large databases
  • Knowledge of Data Warehouse (SnowFlake, AWS Redshift) is considered a huge advantage
  • Knowledge of MySQL, MSSQL & MongoDB
  • Experience with maintaining and optimizing PL/SQL procedures, triggers, packages, and functions
  • Experience with any monitoring tool, such as Prometheus, DataDog, etc..
  • Good knowledge of Windows and any one of the UNIX environments
     

What would you be doing in the role 

  • Administer and maintain Oracle databases in production environments, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and partitioning
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Guard
  • Troubleshoot database performance issues (using AWR/ADDM), locks, and deadlocks in production systems
  • Monitor database health using OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) and other monitoring tools (e.g. Prometheus, DataDog, SQL developer, TOAD, etc..)
  • Manage a team of experienced DBAs in an international environment
  • Lead, direct, and review the team’s work to achieve operational or functional targets or objectives
     

About the team

The Manager, Database Administrator will be responsible for managing a team of 3 experienced Database Administrators in an international environment. This position reports to the Director of Development Operations Engineering. The team operates using Scrum methodology, so this role requires a focus on technical tasks, as well as prioritizing and delegating tasks, defining the roadmap, and serving as the main point of contact for all team-related inquiries.
This position also includes on-call rotation duty every fourth week.

Educational Qualification
