Focus on Edge Computing-enabled time-sensitive perception-planning-control systems such as in Networked Robotics, time-sensitivity and determinism over wireless networks, end-to-end design and co-optimization of Edge-centric Robotic-Automation systems from simulations to real-world implementation. May investigate, apply and develop state-of-art AI/ML/Optimization-based technology components / algorithms for vision-based robot perception, multi-robot control and coordination, multi-agent path finding, collective perception/mapping using infrastructure cameras for autonomous mobile robot AMR navigation (including ROS2) and demonstrate these components via integration in Robotics Systems. Apart from developing individual technology components, the candidate should be able to integrate, deploy and co-optimize different technology ingredients into an end-to-end integrated Robotic system. May also be responsible for Physical AI / Robotics systems architecture and definition, including translating the business opportunity into use cases and developing product specifications for required hardware and software needed to deliver system requirements. Impacts and influences the Physical AI / Robotics product roadmap and development based on profound comprehension of Robotics and AI, robotics pipelines and algorithms, customer requirements, and learning-based software frameworks. Impacts related technologies/components for integrated or distributed robotic systems such as computing, communications, perception-planning-control that may be central to the final solution. Develops new methods in the areas of Physical AI and Robotics such as reinforcement learning, policy learning, computer vision, machine learning, Robotics simulation, sim2real, autonomous navigation, and human-robot interaction. Leads design, analysis, and implementation of component level choices across the integrated Physical AI systems on performance, features, and cost, including analysis of risks and emphasis on ease of use, reliability, security, availability, maintainability, sustainability, and quality. Defines systems implementation and integration approach and plans to ensure optimum performance and reliability across hardware and software that comprise the system. Delivers end-to-end technical solutions to solve customer problems, deploying solutions, executing benchmark tests, and preparing documentation. Conducts analysis and makes reliable engineering recommendations to ensure reliability/resiliency of the Robotics / Physical AI Systems. Monitors and reports on utilization and plans continuous process improvement. Collaborates with other teams to analyze next generation requirements and opportunities and may influence and guide research and academic collaboration in the space of Robotics and Autonomous systems and solutions, including proof-of-concept and solutions beyond current industry approaches. Simulates real life robotic environments in the cluster environment and analyzes performance of prototypes. Contributes applied/customer knowledge to Physical AI / Robotics roadmap working with system architects.Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Minimum Qualifications Masters/PhD in Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Computer Science, Control Systems, Electronics, Engineering Design or related fields. Hands-on experience in developing technologies for Robotics Systems such as robot arms, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and Humanoids. Knowledge of Physical AI, Embodied AI, learning-based frameworks for robotics, kinematics-based robot control and perception-planning-control algorithms. Experience with software stack and middleware for robotics including ROS2, Gazebo/MuJoCo and optimization algorithms. Hands-on experience in computer-vision and robotic perception, SLAM-based localization, mapping, path-planning, and obstacle avoidance algorithms. Proficient in Software development in Python, C, C++ on Linux and Windows systems and knowledge of AI frameworks such as Pytorch. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with ROS2 middleware, DDS, ROS2 (Nav2) navigation stack. Hands-on experience in Realsense SDK, RGB-D cameras, Intel OpenVino, containerization and deployment using Docker containers is desirable. Experience in end-to-end robotics system development from simulation to real-world and bridging sim-to-real gap is desirable.
